What does the simulation do?
The simulation runs four safety checks against the selected upgrade profile, without modifying the system.

The simulation runs from the Upgrade Profiles page when you select Run it for me on a profile card. Results appear in the Simulation Checkpoint.
Do I have to run a simulation before applying an upgrade?
Yes. The simulation is a required gate. The Apply [Profile] Profile buttons stay inactive until the simulation passes for that profile. This is by design and can't be bypassed.
What does a simulation "pass" mean?
The simulation passes when all four safety checks succeed for the selected profile. If one or more checks fail, you can't apply that profile.
The simulation failed. What should I do?
Try the following in order:
- Switch to a less aggressive upgrade profile: Select Stable instead of Performance, then select Run it for me again.
- Return to the Modernization Advisor: Choose a different upgrade path, for example Partial Modernization instead of a full Upgrade.
- Refresh the system's data: Run a new scan and assessment to refresh the dependency data, then run the simulation again.
Can I see the simulation results after deploying?
A post-deployment Simulation vs. Actual comparison isn't implemented in the prototype. The deployment view shows phase progress and a live log. A side-by-side comparison of projected vs. actual metrics would be a natural addition to the system's deployment history in a production build.
